About the European Hedgehog

The European hedgehog (Erinaceus europaeus) is one of the most beloved creatures in our gardens. Protected by up to 7,000 spines, it curls into a ball when threatened. This nocturnal insect-eater helps gardeners by feeding on pests such as slugs and beetles. In winter, it hibernates under leaves or shrubs for several months, waiting for spring to return.
