About the Red Squirrel

The red squirrel (Sciurus vulgaris) is one of the forest’s most agile inhabitants, capable of leaping up to two metres between branches. Its bushy tail helps maintain balance and can even act as a shelter in the rain. Known for storing nuts and seeds in hidden caches, it relies on an excellent memory to find them again. In winter, its coat becomes thicker and varies from reddish to greyish tones depending on the region and season.
