Emma Sjödin Design

‘EMMA SJÖDIN’ DESIGN’ was established 2008, and offers a growing range of products in home decoration focusing on textiles. My ambition is to bring art in to everyday life through interior design products with a modern country style. I get my inspiration from details in plants such as wild flowers, insects and birds that all are around our 18th-century farm Frövik in Småland/Sweden. I never render the subject fully, but instead I create my own realty. The most important thing is that the feeling and “soul” of for example the insect is reproduced. Each new collection is preceded by careful studies and detailed work. My techniques are primarily pencil drawing and watercolour painting and I aim to create products which will withstand the passage of time.

It is important for me to create completely without stress and in such a way that both motifs and materials are durable for many years. Everything must maintain the best possible quality and also be good for the nature. The products are often reversible with for example a flower on one side and an insect on the other. I want my art and design to be as functional and usable as possible so that the products can “live its own life” in every home. Available collections are: Blue/Green Geranium, Wild Rose/Bumblebee, Daisies/Blue Butterfly, Bellflowers/Lemon Butterfly, Woodland Strawberries/Honeybee and the birds Bullfinch and Red Robin. In the spring of 2025, I will launch my Dragonfly and Water Lily.
