About the Australian magpie

The Australian magpie is native to Australia, New Zealand and New Guinea. It is a handsome black and white, medium-sized (about 37-43 cm) bird in the order of passerines. The female and the male have the same colouration, only the pattern on their backs distinguishes them.

The Australian magpie is considered one of Australia’s most accomplished songbirds with a wide and varied repertoire. It has adapted well to the human environment and is a common bird in parks, gardens and farmland.
